Daddy was a farmer/laborer who love to challenge some traditional beliefs. One of them is demonstrated here by the love between our kitty, Bongo and the man who grew up with the tradition that black cats bring bad luck, are omens of evil, and that they will take your breath. Although he had never read any stories about Lilith, one of the world’s oldest known female spirits, the stories from the Bible, other writings and superstitions were passed down to him by oral tradition. He knew that there was the possibility that a “Cat Take Ye Breath.” Bongo shared his unique vocalizations by purring and bunting the tired, old farmer who needed to rest after a long hard day of labor. Daddy loved Bongo and the feeling was mutual, but there still remained a caution between them.
