I lived in Los Angeles County California for nine years where I sold many paintings.  During that time, I met people from different countries.  I found it a joy to relate to my African heritage.  A lady from Texas who owned a home in South Africa admired this unfinished piece. I asked her, before painting the background, if using the skirt design upside down would be insulting.  She queried her friends who assured her that it would be no problem.  She paid me in advance before I could even complete the work.
