We cannot explain how God created Adam and Eve, but In the Garden is my vision of all the heavenly parts it took to put together human beings even though creation of human beings is unnatural to our human minds. God’s artwork cannot be explained through scientific understanding or the laws of nature.
When I was a child, ghosts called “haints” where the topics of many dark evenings around a red-hot wood or coal stove. For anyone who may have had a “taste” or “nip”, specters or otherworldly creatures borne of trees, bushes and kudzu could be imagined in the moonlit night, instilling hallucinations and terror or dread. I tell one such story in my When All God’s Children Get Together book.
Created at the request of a friend, Spirit in the Mountain brings together elements of fire, water, air, and earth – all that produce or destroy life. We cannot live without water and air. Everything dies without all of these powerful elements. Plants were created to help restore health and slow down the earthly adversaries of sickness and pain. A tree bent by storms represents aging life and new growth is brought about through divine and pure light. The wind changes clouds and the strength of the moon is constant in all of its phases.
