When I was a child, women without hats in church seemed brazen \u2013 a bit on the sinful side. Required when I attended my church-supported private high school, my hat was simply a ring covered with velvet overlaid with some kind of decorated netting. I never liked wearing hats, not even to church. This little girl in the \u201cYellow Hat\u201d reminds me that children usually only wore hats at Easter time when I was a child. See the way she has cocked her hat, look into her eyes, and know that she already has a self-sufficient spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n
